Candice Roberts: LARRY

February 3 7:30 to 8:30 pm

Trail & District Arts Council brings you LARRY by award-winning Canadian Clown Artist Candice Roberts on February 3 at The Bailey Theatre.

LARRY sees Candice Roberts assume her alter ego, Larry, in a complex, fearless, and very funny portrait of a small-town Canadian dude on a path of self-discovery. Larry tries to be a woke feminist without compromising his masculinity, so that he can prove that he’s worthy of a good woman, can quit drinkin’ and even take up “medertation”. Bold, smart and outrageously funny, it turns out that LARRY’s journey into his own psyche uncovers more than he expected.

Roberts uses LARRY to explore her experiences growing up as a female in rural BC, Canada in the 1980s. Culled from the socially dominant, homophobic male archetypes that surrounded her during her upbringing, Larry helps her compassionately and hilariously examine the limitations of the gender binary, and the complexity of what it means to be human.
