Historic Places Days at the Museum

Wednesday July 10 12:00 am
July 10 to 17 12:00 am to 6:00 pm

Historic Places Days is coming up! We're a designated national historic event site for the Kootenay Mining Region, so we're going to celebrate. The Museum will be open by donation all week, 10 am to 6 pm July 10-17. Haven't gone on one of our guided tours yet? Now's your chance! We offer guided historical tours of the outdoor exhibits at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm daily through the summer - and on Fridays and Saturdays, the Gold Fever Follies will be on site to add some pizzazz to the 11 am tour.

We're also having a photo contest to celebrate! Submit your pictures - old or new - of the Rossland Museum by email to info@rosslandmuseum.ca. We'll be posting our favourites on social media. The top contestants will win a free Museum membership!

What is Historic Places Days? It's an annual event organized by the National Trust for Canada! "Historic Places Days is a platform for individuals and organizations to showcase the places and stories important to them in their own words. As the presenter, the National Trust for Canada recognizes that Canada’s history and heritage is complex and contentious, dominated by settler perspectives, and that individually or collectively the stories may lack diversity. We are working hard with our partners to enrich our awareness of our collective past. We welcome your input on how we can work together to be more inclusive now and in the future."

Our photo contest is great, but the National Trust has a contest, too! The National Trust for Canada is giving away a total of $3000 during of Historic Places Days. With hundreds of registered places and events open to the public this summer, you have even more opportunities to participate in Historic Places Days than ever before. We encourage you to visit a participating historic place and take a selfie, photo or short video of the place. If you’re not able to visit in person, you can share a cherished photo or video you’ve taken of the place during a previous visit.
